"Youth Programs Instrument Drive – September 2011 "

On Saturday, September 10th from 9:30-6:00, the KSYO is having an instrument drive at the Sound of Music, located in Downtown Kokomo on Walnut Street. The KSYO is looking for gently used Violins, Violas, Cellos, and Bases to setup an instrument “inventory” for students interested in our program. (Will continue to except instruments throughout the year, a donation form will be provided.)

KSYO “ROCKtober Concert” October 14, 2011

This concert will feature the Kokomo Symphony Youth Orchestra (“KSYO”) and will feature music of the pops variety. Selections will include, rock and roll music and a few selections from the silver screen. This event will be held at the El-liott House at 7:30p.m.

Youth Winter Concert – December 9, 2011

In the Youth Programs final performance of the fall semester, the KSYO will perform classical selections from the baroque and classical periods as well as a few holiday tunes. The Intermediate strings will join in the festivities as well. This event will be held at Grace UMC at 7:30p.m.

Instrument “Petting” Zoo – February 11, 2012

The Kokomo Symphony is partnering with the Kokomo Country Club to provide this FREE event to the kids in our community. The kids will be able to interact, touch and play the instruments. Our Youth Orchestra will play a few pieces for the attendees. Cookies and Lemonade will be provided by the Kokomo Country Club.

Family Night Out – February 24, 2012

The Kokomo Symphony is partnering with the Kokomo Country Club to provide an egaging, energic and fun evening for all ages. Music will be family friendly ranging from your favorite animated children’s movies through classic and alternative rock. Kids welcome to wear princess attire and capes. The Kokomo Country Club will provide the dinner. Contact the Symphony Office for reservations.

Youth Shamrock Slam – March 11th, 2012

This is a private concert at Sycamore Village where members of the KSYO will perform for the residents.

Youth Concerto Concert – March 25th, 2012

The KSYO will team up with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Indianapolis and perform at Hilbert Circle Theatre.

Indiana ICE Hockey Game – March 31st, 2012

The KSYO will perform the National Anthem at the Indiana ICE. This opportunity will be used as a fundraiser for the KSYO.

Youth Finale Concert – May 18th, 2012

This concert will feature all of the youth programs. The Beginning and Intermediate strings classes will perform the pieces they have been working on for the semester and the KSYO will perform music from a wide variety of time periods. This event will be held at Grace UMC at 7:30p.m.

Solo Recital – May 2012

The teachers of the youth programs will have their private students display their talents at a concert featuring solo works.

“Melodic Mile & 5K Run” - May 26th, 2012

The annual run fundraising event is held at Kokomo’s own Highland Park with the help and support of Ken Long and Associates (KLA). KLA is helping organize the event and will provide the registration and timing for the event.

“Symphony in the Park” – June 23, 2012

A summer concert at Foster Park is in the planning stages featuring the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra in “Festive!” We celebrate the end of a season and the beginning of summer with Hector Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Over-ture. We follow that with Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece, Symphony No. 5, which drives triumphantly to an excit-ing conclusion. This is the first concert of the KSO 2012-2013 Sea-son, KSO 2.0.
